today just totally rawked.
lessee... um, got up just early enough to shower shave and shove my ass out the door to get to a meeting with a potential new client. after seeing the first thing i pulled out of my portfolio he basically said 'you did that?-- i've seen that before, and actually had that in the back of my mind while planning this project' and he didn't even want to see anything else after that! so i have a new client, and have once again been saved by the seat of my assless pants from the degredation of trying to sell myself.
i walked home (about 60 or so blocks), and by chance turned to walk through madison square park. and just as i am approaching the park, i don't just see bagpipers & drummers-- i see about 15 bagpipers and about 10 drummers getting off of a bus, fully kitted out in all proper military regalia... they get into formation and start marching and playing through the park. it is the 1st Battalion of Scots Guards, the premiere group of british infantry pipers, and they are playing a free concert in the park. and i stumbled into it just in time. so i spent the early afternoon sitting on the ground in the shade, watching kids play in the park, and listening to probably the finest bagpipers & drummers in the world... i love that music... and there was also some highland sword dancing...
after that, i continue on my way home, and stop at the post office. the new DVD of my favorite movie ('CAT PEOPLE') arrived, and i couldn't wait to get home and listen to the director's commentary! also got the 'CABIN BOY' DVD! no extras, but it's still a great movie... but i stopped off at panya first and got a spicy tuna bun for lunch (damn you, junior)!
i spent the rest of the night working, but on fun stuff. and then a friend (a friend i made here on SG!) called for a while, and that was just too nice.
it's just about midnight... i think i'm gonna try to clean the apt a little. maybe go down to the bar in an hour or two... or maybe keep working?
