So I was very amused this week when Wired published an article about General John Poindexter, head of the U.S. government's new Total Information Awareness project. In case you don't know, the Pentagon, with the blessings of our esteemed president Bush, has proposed a massive database to catalogue on "an unprecedented scale" credit card, medical, school and travel records. Of course, this is all in the name of combating terrorism.
In response, online pranksters resorted to publishing a wealth of personal information on Poindexter, including his personal phone number, "photos of his house and other personal information to protest the TIA program."
How awesome is that? Orwell taught us to fear Big Brother but in an ironic twist, we can dredge up publically available information in fabulous protest. Don't like the government collecting personal information on you? Well then publish personal information on the people who are running these programs!

i'm lucky if i dream at all. when i do it's usually fucked up. and i'd like to not remember them at all. on the occasion it's actually pleasant i remember very little. *shrug*
