I'm going to be conspicuously absent today as work will be very busy. That's what I get when I procrastinate by dicking around on this site! Fortunately this is my last week of work before the New Year so only three more days to go!
My holidays will be spent first traveling to Boston where my girlfriend's family lives. I've never spent any time on the East Coast in the winter so this'll be a new experience. In California, snow is something you drive to, NOT something you shovel out of your driveway. I have no idea what it's like to defrost your locks, scrape your windshield, make sure you park on the right side of the street so the plow doesn't bury your car, or walk on black ice. I also have never spent much time sledding, having snowball fights, seeing the Northern Lights, catching snowflakes on my tongue, or staying home because of a snow day.
Right after Christmas in Boston I'm off to Phoenix where my expecting sister lives for my family's get-together. She is carrying a little girl who will be not only the first grandchild in my family but she'll be the first great grandchild as well. Wooooo! She's due any day now.
Q: What single skill do you wish you had or want to develop? Playing a musical instrument? The ability to run marathons? An understanding of quantum physics?
A: I'd love to be a flamenco guitarist.
Word of the day: cleave (v.) - 1. to adhere firmly and closely or loyally and unwaveringly. 2. to divide by or as if by a cutting blow : SPLIT.
I LOVE that this word's definitions make "cleave" an antonym of itself. How the hell did THAT happen??
