Monday, December 2, 2002. Life rolls onward but not always forward.
My employee review was neither wonderful nor horrible. Some not-so-cozy medium instead.
I got off my chest what I needed to get off: not being paid enough, long hours, increased responsibility, etc., etc. And the fact I'd been shafted on a raise for so long.
They countered with "You need to go the distance." I would, if you paid me for it. I'm not running a charity.
They've asked me to submit a salary proposal and will try to meet it. They also asked me to get past any resentment, otherwise it might be best to find a new place to work.
I'll send the proposal but I'm in no mood to muck around with it. And there's no guarantee that my request will be met or that I'll stop being resentful. That's what you get when you treat your employees like shit from Day 1.
Word of the day - wanderlust: strong longing for or impulse toward wandering. Now how many other words can you actually think of that use "lust" to describe the passion?
Second word of the day - curmudgeon: a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man. I just like the way the word sounds.
