I talked to a guy that is the head of a large production house in NYC. He said that my skills are quite up to snuff to be a full time freelance editor (which is true), and that I should try and find a position as an assistant editor or a techie. The thing is that I don't know that much about the equipment to be a techie. So starting tomorrow I'm going to try and figure out everything I can about how the Avid suites at work are wired, how the tape machines work, and every button and setting on every piece of equipment. I'm also going to try and figure out all the settings and tools within Avid MC. It would also be a good thing for me to really get into the guts and learn OS X from the inside out. This puts me in a harsh position b/c I don't have enough $$ for my powerbook yet. But I need the knowledge. I guess I'm going to have to sell anything and everything I can part with that people will pay for.
