No updaye in some time. Well, I've been doing a lot of fixing up this house I bought and writing another thingy for White Wolf, with not a lot of time left over. I did catch this pretty interesting indie flick called Primer, about the intricacies of time travel. We had to watch it twice to really get it, but it's a nice, thoughtful diversion.

Just got back from living in France for a while. Sorry to all of you (three) SG friends out there for taking off with no warning. I had a great time, and have returned much relaxed.

Now I just have to figure out how to convince the French government to let me live there permanently. I'm thinking the Foreign Legion. smile

Man. Busy lately. Haven't updated in forever.

Just started reading Tanith Lee's 'Night's Master' and I realize that I probably should have read it before writing the Abyssals book. Huh. Well, I guess there's always the revised version in 10 years...

Also read 'Stars My Destination' for the first time. I can't believe it was written in 1956. It has a few familliar old school...

I went to see Reverend Horton Heat last night -- the show was predictably fun. I've seen then about a dozen times and it never gets old.

Mr. Airplane Man and the Detroit Cobras also kicked more ass than opening acts should be permitted to.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. When I'm not going to shows I'm working on deadlined project (the 15th)...

Gawd, the show was so awesome! I had so much fun at the show, and got to meet several SG members! You've got to keep your eye out for a show that you can make it to!

I haven't seen the Rev. in awhile. I'm getting a bit bummed out that he's only playing larger venues here in ILL, I liked it better in smaller club type settings where it was possible to get up front. Ah well, that's the price of fame.
redheaddevil:
Hey, is your project finished yet??? Miss you!

I went to see 'Supersize Me,' Morgan Spurlock's documentary about the perils of a fast-food diet.

Related news: I'm officially off fast food for a good long while.

I just stumbled in here... but I gotta say, having not seen this movie yet, it's funny to me that everyone who sees it says they're off fast food. Don't get me wrong, I think that's awesome! But everything I've heard about the movie indicates that there's no new info, it's essentially reiterating what everyone has known forever about Micky D and friends. So why does it take a movie to effect people? I'm not being a dick (or at least I'm not wanting to be), I'm honestly curious! smile If anything this bodes well for my filmmaking career, that films can have this kind of effect...

random rant ahoy!
ofthedead:
Oh man, I gotta see this movie just for the pasty "after" look! Sounds horrible.

I love Hell House too by the way, and not just because it exists very near me! Actually, that fact kinda scares me. frown

Eye opening reading for those who want to know what's been happening in this country of ours.

Hello,

I "enjoyed" (= agreed with!) your recent comments on Ayn Rand in the lit group!

Have a great weekend
l*P!
redheaddevil:
Hey, I've been almost sleeping better! Just constantly interrupted. The goddamned storm sirens went off at midnight, there's one right at the end of my block. Those fucking things stayed on FOR TWENTY MINUTES. And nothing happened. Just a little rain and thunder, no bid deal. Fucking national civil alert system or whatever the hell it's called.

Hey, but besides that, I had a great day! biggrin Seriously, I am in a good mood. More friends coming down this weekend. Then I'm visiting my P's in Oak Park, eating their food, watching their tv, spending their money. You know, quality time.

I like my girlfriend's mom. I really do. In small, measured doses I like her even more. I'm on day three now (she's visiting), however, and it's really starting to get to me.

Admittedly, I have a low tolerance and a streak of sarcasm that don't really mix well. I can only take so much. And it's not even anything that would annoy me in...

Yes, extra helpfulness sucks. You can't...really be mean in return, or you can, but then you're an "asshole." Mlah.

Splurged on a few more CDs this week: The new Shins, Franz Ferdinand and the new Morissey EP, for old times' sake.

I'll also be going to see David Bowie for the second time in as many months on Monday. I can't wait for that! Other than that it's Reverend Horton Heat early in June.

Right now I'm sore from yard work.

I've been listening to Air America somewhat constantly since it first aired some weeks ago. It's most welcome, as I've been despairing the lack of criticism (or, er...reporting) on the normal news sources.

For those who haven't heard about it, it's streaming on the web at www.airamericaradio.com.

I picked up a bunch of cd's the other day, too (couple of freelance checks came in --...

i don't think i've ever even heards of nellie mckay. i think that makes me super-crazed-elitist. i've seen tin hat trio perform twice: once in knoxville, tn, of all places, and once here in portland where they performed a soundtrack to a weird old stop-motion film with bugs. very cool. i wish they were my friends.
redheaddevil:
Thanks for the welcome!

I've tried to listen to Air America, but can't get a constant stream at work. What I've heard has been good.

Thanks for the band tips, I've been listening to WAY too much of that Wilco/Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt stuff, and I need a change. Not that I don't like it anymore, just overdosed a bit!

Yeah, people and their opinions...

some folks just like to hear themselves talk!
