Lost in Tranlsation
Imagine two people conversing with each other, one in Italian, the other in Spanish. Both being Romance languages, some words and meanings would get through, others would be slightly understood and probably interpolated into a semi-functional meaning, and others would be lost entirely. In essence, a conversation between these two would have mediocre results, but the overall meaning would be intact..... in theory.
This is what I think most everyday conversation boils down to, between me and the people in my life. Generally we understand each other, some of us more than others, and everything is cool. Once in a while though, you start to realize that the other person doesn't fully get you and may never will. And that's frustrating.
This kind of realization sucks -- when it's someone that you were really close with at one point. And it's even more fucked when they start interpreting the things you're saying through a translation device that doesn't become you. For example, if you've never been hostile to an individual before, what reason does that person have to start interpreting your meaning as hostile now? It's like using a Russian-to-Japanese dictionary to translate the conversation between Italian and Spanish. It doesn't make any fucking sense!
How can you defend yourself against other people's perception of you? Any explanation and clarity you try to communicate to this person will be invariably filtered through their perception of you, thus losing its original intent anyway.
It's a fucking losing battle!
I know, I know, it's a part of life, get used to it, right? Well I don't want to
