Philosophy time!
I got into an interesting discussion with my mother last night, she was saying she wants me to find more "innner happiness" via some religious connection (this all started because I was awake at 3:30am and she wanted me to go to sleep, I really gotta move out of this town). She has been into eastern religion for awhile, somewhat off the beaten path, but not that unusual for our town. Anyway, she was talking about how important inner happiness was and how if you have inner happiness, you won't try to find happiness though excessive sex, drugs and alchohol (not that I do). But my standpoint is that inner happiness isn't inner intelligence, you can be perfectly content with some religion with all its aspects of warship and ceremonies but that doesn't necessarily improve who you are as a person. In fact I would go so far to say that it is a distraction from real life as much as drugs and alchohol are, burn away your problems with religious redemption that doesn't help you pay your bills, doesn't give you any happiness outside the religious experience, and doesn't necessarily help you to become a better person. As far as I'm concerned thats what good friends are for. I may be a little hardened and bitter about this, but maybe I wouldn't be if there wasn't so much fricking bulls**t I have to deal with
