A year ago today I broke my back.
It has been a year since...
...I have walked normally
...felt whole
...had an orgasm
...lived free of pain
...knew who I was
...believed in God
...been naive
...been carefree
...felt normal
...had self-confidence
...felt like a man
...felt my feet
...taken a piss
My life as I knew it ended. I was fully aware that the instant my body went numb that nothing would ever be the same again. I thought the world was going to end for me, and it did, but a new one started.
Every day I think to myself how lucky I am. Even though I suffer from horrible pain, lost the girl I love, can't do the things I love, can't go to the places I want to go, I am happy.
I have great friends, a great job, great potential for recovery, great therapists, great dog, great apartment, and a great life.
I have experienced some of the horrors that are a reality of this life, and I know that there are many more that I have not experienced. I know this for sure, life is good!

Is sad and very inspirational at the same time and even though I dont know you **hug**
