Highlights from the weekend (auto-centric):
- Filing the top compression rings for my engine. Chevrolet says the rings should have an end gap of 0.010-0.020". As-packaged, the end gap was 0.015" top, 0.017" second. The pistons' manufacturer says end gap should be 0.034" for the top only. Since I have no ring filing fixture, I did it the old-fashioned way--stick a file in the vise & go to town. Mark One eyeball says the edges were fairly square. With the exception of #4, I managed to keep the gaps around 0.033"-0.037". Correcting the sloped edge of #4 left me with a 0.041" gap. Oops. It shouldn't matter much--if at all--since there's very little of the ring actually outside the piston, but I still goofed.
- When someone advertises a car on Craigslist for under $1000 and doesn't post a picture, it's for a damn good reason. I found an $800 Caprice for sale here in Redford about an hour-and-a-half after the guy posted the ad. Naturally i called about it and went to look at it. Wow. I thought I owned beaters...the Blazer's body is immaculate compared to that car. I passed on the opportunity.
- In roughly 11 hours, a spark plug wire set I am selling on eBay will end. As of right now, it will buy me almost six gallons of gas. Works for me.

I think you should investigate further into this car, as I would much rather ride in it with you, then your current mode of transportation lol

so what did you discover?
