Rat bastards.
It wasn't enough to redo The Day the Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves as Klaatu; oh no. There's a remake of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three in the works as well. Why? That flick was a brilliant snapshot of early-'70s NYC. No slick cellular devices, no CGI, no vivid monitors on which to track the train. You had Ma Bell desktop phones, some beat-up mikes, and a leader board with little light bulbs.
Walter Matthau & Robert Shaw > Denzel Washington & John Travolta
The remake certainly can't top the score of the original:
What's next? Bullitt? I should bite my tongue in case some schmuck thinks that's a grand idea.

In my world there are no remakes of Gone in 60 Seconds, Italian Job, Planet of the Apes, Psycho, Rear Window, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.....and there are no prequels.
