Back when my garage was built, the biggest Chevrolet car could fit comfortably inside. The 3100s (1/2-ton) weren't much larger. The 3400s (3/4-ton) & 3600s (1-ton) were longer, yes, but no wider than the 3100s.
What a difference ten years makes. Now think about this: my 3/4-ton, fullsize truck has roughly the same dimensions as the current mid-size Chevrolet Colorado. There is no way I could get a newer fullsize pickup in my garage. None.
(However, a fullsize Chevrolet Caprice can still fit comfortably inside. )

That's what I get for being an "early adopter". The Sony DVD player I bought in 1998 for $500 still runs like a champ, though.
