Tomorrow I head out to CO for a week. I hear there's snow out there!
Tonight my starter died. No big deal, I'll just rebuild it in the bank parking lot, right? WRONG. I fragged the damn thing. There wasn't a single intact part at the rear of the motor. Brushes, holders, commutator--all destroyed. Luckily there are four auto parts stores nearby. Unluckily, not a single one had my starter. Murray's, however, says they can get it in by 2AM. I'm going to take a leisurely early-morning stroll to pick it up. Here's hoping it's there well before I have to go to the airport (10AM).
Come to think of it, I haven't had to hike for auto parts since mid-2000. That time I walked four miles (round-trip) of rural CO dirt roads for a battery. Makes this four-mile trek up & down Grand River look relatively pissant.
