Much to the consternation of the incomparable EvanX, I'm posting details of this past weekend's festivities.
FRIDAY--
Got home, got ready, drove to Fenton.
Once in Fenton, I met up with twenty-odd other friends of mine for the very last Fenton Road Bar Run originating at the House. Fifteen (or so) bars from 7PM to 2AM. I made it through all of 'em. Some of the older folks (including two who once WALKED the twelve miles from GMI to the House many, many years ago) only made it halfway before crashing on the bus.
I passed out around 3AM, comfortably ensconced in my sleeping bag.
At 8AM, I woke up with a bitch of a headache. Took care of some business, tried to get back to sleep for another three hours, and finally gave up around 11:30. Fifteen minutes later, I knew it had been a good night. My headache did go away once I'd purged my unhappy stomach though.
An hour later, there was another purging session. I had one hell of a night alright.
Since it was a very sunny day, I decided to finish Carl Hiaasen's Skinny Dip. Instead, I fell asleep in my lawn chair. Got a mild sunburn from it too.
Woke up to find some A-Section friends lambasting me for reading on Alumni Day. Pfft. It was good to see them though.
VERY HUNGRY
Unfortunately, the folks who were golfing hadn't gotten back yet. Phooey. So we hungry folk bullshitted until 3PM or so when we finally ate. My stomach rejoiced.
Sometime after dinner, two of the older alums got a killer idea: Let's dig up the time capsule! Smashing idea, right?
Heh. NO. Damn thing was six feet down. SIX FEET!!! I dug a good portion of that.
(For those of you curious, yes the capsule was a keg. No, we did not open it. Not time yet.)
The bonfire started around dusk. More BSing, more camaraderie, more beer (but not for me; oy vey), and Jet's Pizza. My stomach rejoiced again.
BSing continued until 4AM when I left the House for Wixom. I passed out in my bed by 5AM or so.
SUNDAY--
I woke up to see it was 1PM. I hopped in the shower after a bit o'lunch. Time for yet another party, this time in Waterford.
I promptly got lost.
Two hours later, I'm back in Wixom. I called missbernie to see if the shindig was still on. It was. I took off for the park post-haste, only to arrive just as they were packing up. $6 for ten minutes in a State Park. Lovely.
Off we went to osoesoteric's place for the after-party. Panzermensch and I took a "slight" detour due to me forgetting his navigational skills are a trifle lacking at times. Since when does one turn OFF a road only to turn back onto it a couple miles later?
At the after-party, we watched a bit of TV before playing three rounds of Scene-It Redux (or whatever they call it). I ate some baked beans with Tostitos Scoops, thus proving I am just so awesome.
So that was my weekend. I got to see the House one last time before it gets sold. The Delta Eta chapter of Bete Theta Pi is no longer present in Fenton. Here's to its recolonization somewhere in Flint in 2007.
