Today is both Laundry Day and Bookkeeping Day. The former was a cakewalk, the latter...oy...
Anyway, as I sat on my futon, updating my "Truck Upgrades (C20)" spreadsheet, I noticed I have spent $10,170.21 on upkeep since February 1999. I have travelled 78,556 miles in that time, so I've been spending an average of 12.9/mile on upkeep (gas is a different story, one I have not kept up with since 2003).
The worst year for upkeep? 1999. I spent $2607.26 over 16,665 miles (15.6/mile). The worst cost per mile came in 2005. 29/mile over 6477.2 miles ($1880.10)
The best year was 2002 at $940.59 spent over 11,818.6 miles (8/mile). That was also the best yearly average.
I purchased this money pit for $2400. With tax, $2496. Therefore, I have bought my truck a bit more than four times in the past seven years--one year I bought it twice! First as an actual purchase, then again through upkeep.
(No, I am not going to get rid of it. It's a classic! )
