Let's face it, I'm a Johnny-Come-Lately-and-One-Upper too. MrNiceGuy changes his name, I change mine numerous times. Several folks on the ether post picture journals, I too shall post a picture journal.
Without further ado, I hereby present SYH Makes Dinner--A Cornucopia of Digital Photographic Delight.
I feel like chicken tonight. Chicken is good. Besides, those two quarters have been thawing in my fridge for a week or so. They need to be eaten.
But what goes with chicken? I'm sick of potatoes & onions & carrots with my meal. I want variety, dammit!
Hmm, I do have this bag of rice I purchased yesterday. Chicken & rice it is! (yes, that's a 10 pound bag of Twenty Minute Rice; only $3.49!)
Proper rice preparation from the bag: one cup rice + two cups water + one tablespoon butter (opt.) + one teaspoon salt, boil mixture, cover & simmer for 15-20 minutes. I doubled that, except for the salt. I had a brain fart & used one tablespoon of salt. Hello blood pressure!
While I wait for the rice to cook, I think I shall make tea. Hmm, I have a one quart container so that's...four teaspoons of tea + one quart of water. Got it.
Mighty dark, isn't it. Yep, the dreaded brain fart once again reared its ugly head. That's four tablespoons of instant tea + one quart of water. It's quite potent. (for you non-cooking/pro-metric types, one tablespoon = three teaspoons)
Ahh, Buttery Rice. Soon you shall be covering my chicken.
Or not. Need more Buttery Rice!
{ten minutes later}
Much better. I am the king of accelerated Twenty-Minute-Rice-Cooking.
Just to be safe, I'll drizzle one cup of water onto the rice. {water runs out of dish} Maybe half-a-cup was enough...
Cover with foil and stick it in the oven at 350 for, uhh, a while. Call it an hour or so. Maybe more.
So there you have it--SYH Makes Dinner. Pretty spiffy, ain't it? I thought so too.
In other news, here's my new(ish) cellular device. Not only was it free, it's also made in the US of A. You don't see that everyday.
Without further ado, I hereby present SYH Makes Dinner--A Cornucopia of Digital Photographic Delight.
