How to give SYH apoplexy in under ten words: Cerberus sells Chrysler to somebody before November 4th.

I really shouldn't be reading all the rumors & scuttlebutt because the whole farce is so damned ridiculous. However, my blood pressure is too low lately, so I have to bump it up somehow.

"We're in it for the long haul" indeed. Just like Home Depot, eh Bob?...

Useful trivia learned at work today: a group of swallows (birds) is called a "gulp".

Yep. A gulp of swallows.

September something, 2002 - September 21, 2008

I've been toying with this for a couple weeks now. You know how hard it is to change something after six years? (If you want to nitpick, it's actually been a little less than five years since I changed this particular something as The Unabomber look was around Halloween '03.)

Fifteen minutes ago, through a combination of boredom...

You know, if you want Holden to be treated like a pig, maybe we should throw him into the middle of Deliverance.

By the way, have you ever read Deliverance? It's actually a really good book and the movie follows it quite well.

Oh, I'm glad it helped. smile

Tasks for the weekend:

  • finish tuning-up the Caprice

  • assemble some more of Faithful Steed's new heart

  • mow the damn lawn

  • wash the damn dishes

  • watch the rest of the first series of The Sweeney

  • continue searching for the other three series of said show

That show certainly has a catchy theme tune:

Solid '70s magic, baby. biggrin

Sounds good man, what kind of car did you get?

I spent the last 2 days looking for a new apartment with the girlfriend, and just decided to stay where we are, but get a 1/1 instead of a 2/2. So I feel like we wasted time, but whatever .. put my mind at ease. Just got off of vacation and really missing Pittsburgh. Florida and the south is getting slammed with hurricanes right now so it kinda' sucks.

Dear Hizzoner,

I realize that I, as a white suburbanite a mere two blocks west of the city for which you profess much love, have very little influence over your actions, but please, sir, accept your fate and get the fuck out of office before you are removed in irons. I realize your zeppelin-like ego requires mass infusions of cash (especially when it's not your...

SYH got hosed...kinda.

The car has 146,000 miles, not 46,000 like I was told. This is why you should read the receipts in the glove box before buying a car, regardless of what the body looks like or the interior's condition. The engine only has 50,000 miles on it though.

It's still a pretty car just not as fresh as I had thought.

{added almost...

Highlights from the weekend (auto-centric):

  • Filing the top compression rings for my engine. Chevrolet says the rings should have an end gap of 0.010-0.020". As-packaged, the end gap was 0.015" top, 0.017" second. The pistons' manufacturer says end gap should be 0.034" for the top only. Since I have no ring filing fixture, I did it the old-fashioned way--stick a file in the vise &...
