A farewell song for tomorrow's festivities: "Cool as Hell" by Grand Buffet

Statues of age-old, stone-shed tears,
There's a myriad of reasons why,
None of which I need to hear.
What I'm listening for resonates at very low frequencies,
Only seismologists speak to me.

Recently, wheels that squeak have no sequel,
Refusing to roll like predictable people.
The nunnery is harnessing sexual frustration,
Converting it...

This is a couple days early, but it's not really that much of a secret anyway.

My fourth anniversary on this site is coming up on the 22nd. In honor of said occasion, I will not be coming back for a fifth year. Come the 28th, I'm done. There's a Friend's Thread if you want to contact me on the Outside. If you can't see...

No. You'll be back. And by the end of the year.

yes, but I'm bad at the phone and I work a million hours all the time so making that extra effort will make it extra hard for me...

This weekend I shall be in my attic, wrestling with cellulose, fiberglass, and aluminum-polyethylene sheeting. For a little variety, I might pop over to my garage & run some conduit.

(Must remember to research heaters for garage.)

{update}

I now have a Tiger in my computer. I am so awesome.

Today I received my gas bill. It was roughly $50 more than last month. *clutches chest*

That's it, I'm setting the thermostat to 62.

yeowch!

the thing I kept thinking about yesterday was the time I put a bus in a hole. there was construction, and where a grassy median was going to be, there was an un-curbed hole. I had to turn right (as in the opposite of left) around that hole, which meant reduced turning radius. there was another intersection about 50 feet away from that one, and while I was navigating my turn, a woman turned around that corner and decided she needed the whole road around the median. she was going quickly enough that I turned just a smidge to avoid hitting her before braking... when I went to start driving again, I actually heard one dual go over before the other-- of course only giving me enough time to think, "oh shit!"

so my bus had one set of duals in this cement hole and was resting quite nicely on the frame surrounding the tires. let me tell you, concrete crumbles like sand when you drag 14 tons of steel bus against it. I don't even want to know what that tow bill cost. ah, skill..

I have a friend who used to drive a trash truck and she backed into a light pole. the guy she was driving with told her they would just tell everyone that lightening hit it, which she thought was a great plan!

This weekend has been spent flat on my back stapling radiant barrier to the rafters in my attic. Reason #213 why being a fur-bearing mammal is a liability, not an asset: Fiberglass & cellulose insulatiuon gets entagled in Nature's Fur Coat.

On the plus side, I get to deduct this whole enterprise on next year's tax return. biggrin

Enough slacking, back to the salt mines.

P.S.--...

In honor of yesterday's auspicious occasion, I took myself out shopping after work today. $120 in house supplies later (including a 6' stepladder that was on sale), I trekked across the treacherously icy parking lot to a fine dining establishment: Leo's Coney Island. Since I was still in a spending mood, I splurged on the Coney Combo w/chili fries. Mmmmmmmmmmm. love Two chili concoctions & a...

No harsh feelings or disrespect. Just my opinion. I also highly value yours. There would be no civilized society if people never shared and respected eachother's opinions.

BitTorrent is a handy client for downloading the last two series/seasons of Doctor Who. I may have been raised on Tom Baker (the only Doctor according to my father), but David Tennant is just as good in my book.

(I now have the theme stuck in my head. I blame the Cybermen. robot (Although the redesigned Cybermen look more like this: EL SUICIDO LOCO .) I would blame...

Today was a busy day. Not only did I finally upgrade the lighting in my garage, I also moved & unpacked 1/4 of the stuff in my living room. I figure I'll have the rest of the stuff moved by Wednesday, pull the trim off the walls Thursday, and get to sanding Friday.

(No, I will not be sanding the living room with a belt...

Hey, have that BigLew guy in the Detroit group. He is a kewl dood. He can't make it to the Mongolian on Saturday. Instead he is teaching a photography class on how to shoot models for alternative pin-up sites. Damn scheduling conflicts.

Back when my garage was built, the biggest Chevrolet car could fit comfortably inside. The 3100s (1/2-ton) weren't much larger. The 3400s (3/4-ton) & 3600s (1-ton) were longer, yes, but no wider than the 3100s.

What a difference ten years makes. Now think about this: my 3/4-ton, fullsize truck has roughly the same dimensions as the current mid-size Chevrolet Colorado. There is no way I...

The addendum to the previous entry made me curious about my former home in the Rockies, so I've been perusing various things from Grand County for the past few hours. Findings? My old elementary school has had another addition, the bus route I took for eleven years is still being driven by the same man, and very few teachers that I knew are still employed...
