I'm thinking about fasting. Actually, first a detox diet, then a fast in a couple of months. Lately I've been feeling sluggish and dumpy, and I think a detox/fasting diet would be a great way to kick-start new eating habits. I've been overweight since grade school (thanks for those twinkies and lunchables, ma!) and I never did acquire decent eating habits. I mean, don't get me wrong - I'm all about juicy steak and cheesecake in moderation, but Taco Bell three nights in a row because I'm too tired to cook is really not quite so healthy.
I'm near t-zero for the smoking too...Tuesday is my last day...*fingers crossed*
I'm going to approach my nurse practioner in about two weeks about a healthy detox/fasting plan. Well, she'll probably give me a referal to a dietician, and I'll discuss it with him/her. But I have to wait until I'm well under way with the no smoking before I add another stressor to my life. My NP actually advised me to NOT quit smoking right now because in her opinion I'm currently under too much stress and would be at a "high risk for failure, which might discourage me from attempting to quit in the future". Fuckin' quack. No, I get what she's saying, but it was kinda funny to have a healthcare professional tell me NOT to quite smoking.
I'm also planning on slowly integrating more exercise into my daily schedule. Probably begin with longer walks (Lake Calhoun, anyone?), then move up to the jog-walk, then to the full out jogging. I have a goal of being able to jog Calhoun before next summer. I already do some weight-training, but what I'm lacking is the cardio-aerobic exercise.
I dunno...hmmm...I wonder if there's such a thing as a sushi fast...mmm....sushi...
