Visiting the family in Chicago was a good time. Parents always spring for yummy food - can't miss that Holy sheee-it has my dad lost weight! I mean...that's good - he's been upwards of 400 lbs. my entire life. But he's always been healthy, ya know? Good cholesterol, good blood pressure. Fat...but healthy So I walk into the ol' childhood home and see my pops sans about 150 lbs or so. After retrieving my jaw from the tiled entryway floor, I give my dad a big huge, smile and say "Wow...cancer agrees with you! Get me a 'scrip for whatever you done got!" He asked how I had acquired a hick accent up north in Minnesota. Oh father...you have NO idea...
I also went to see Grandma Dee, and my 2 aunts and 1 uncle down in Vienna, IL. Vienna is a teensy tiny town about 45 minutes from Paducah, KY. Totally unplanned. And it was ODD because the aunts and uncle are all from waaay out of town, so it was sheer co-inkeedink that everyone was in one spot at the same time! I had planned my sleep schedule so I could make the 8 hour trip to Chicago during the night, and when we arrived at 3:30am I was still coasting. Plus I had a pretty good caffeine buzz going...soooo...5 hours later we were in - or at least close to - the butthole of Illinois - Vienna! Grandma Dee was so happy - it's been 2 years since I'd seen her last. But damn...that's the last time I drive 13 hours at once for the fuckin' hell of it!
WE SOLD THE HOUSE!!! Yeah! The house was only on the market for 16 days - that's INSANE, especially for Rochester which is really slow right now. The inspection happened today (turns out there's about $200 worth of work that needs to be done before the fucknut will sign the final purchase agreement or whatever the paperwork is called) and we close on September 16th. So we're going to apply for an apartment now that we FINALLY know how things are going to play out on that front.
So....I've got a job, we sold the house, my family's doing well AND I fuckin' went walking, running, biking and swimming this morning! I rock, goddammit.

I have relatives in Chicago myself, but I haven't seen any of them in probably 15 years or so. With the exception of my one aunt, that part of my family thinks they're too good for the rest of us.
