It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood, a wonderful day in the neighborhood...
I'm going home to Chicago today to visit my folks. I have to go visit my dad who has cancer (the bad, bad kind) - suckage, huh? I cancelled a Valley Fair trip and a play party for Saturday in favor of visiting the sick pops. Honestly though, I think rollercoasters and SM would be a lot more emotionally healthy, don't you?
I don't know if it's because of my previous occuption in the pathology and forensic sciences that are giving me such a...cavalier?...attitude toward's my father's impending death or that it just hasn't hit home yet. I love him very, very much...it's just that I know that everyone has to go, and in the big scheme of things he's had a pretty good run. I know he's had a happy life, so calling it quits now is as good a time as any, I suppose. The only time I get really sad is when I think of my mom. She and my dad have had plans for the last five-ten years to buy a motorhome and travel across the US when they both retire. I hope she still does it.
On a cheerier note, I found a cool smiley with a ballgag this morning!
