So I found out I have a lift test coming up soon. I REALLY want this job with the county, but to be considered every applicant has to pass the lift test - an obstacle course consisting of two flights of stairs which have to be navigated while carrying an awkward bar holding 100lbs of weights. I've failed it for the past two years. I am SO qualified for the position, but I haven't even been able to get a little toe in the door because of my inability to get past this first hurdle. At this point, I could say FUCK the job - I just want to pass the lift test to prove to myself that I can do it. I have a friend (who does trapeze - how cool!?) who has me doing this "Yoga Bootie Ballet" - a type of aerobic/yoga series of workout videos, and I'm lifting weights every other day at the gym. I also found a building with 33 stories of stairs that I can start running - as soon as I stop being intimidated by the idea of tackling 33 sets of stairs! I've only got a month to train, and I know I can't over do it, but I would really, really like to succeed this time. I AM A POWERFUL ATHLETE GRRRRR
