tomorrow morning i have my interview for the internship position at a local recording studio.
i'm nervous beyond belief. i've helped out the guy who co-owns the studio with a recording project a few months ago, and it went well. so i gave a pretty good fist impression. i'm just worried that i'm not as qualified as other applicants.
oh yea, and i'm a girl. as much as i would love to say that it doesn't matter, i've come to learn very quickly that being a woman in this industry will be far from easy.
it's frustrating to see how people assume i don't know what i'm talking about when it comes to music production. or they think i can't carry gear into a studio. or they look at me and assume i know nothing about music except which rock band is hot right now.
believe it or not, i have a degree in music production. i'm pretty strong for a girl, i lift boxes at work every day and thanks to my wonderful tomboy years i can arm wrestle with the best of men. i am a classically trained musician who just happens to have some tattoos and piercing and likes a little metal once in a while. now if only i had a way of saying all of that at my interview without sounding pompous.
btw.... Nixon's new set "Do or Die" is absolutely amazing.
