I MIGHT BE GETTING AN INTERNSHIP!!
...at Audio for the Arts, a recording studio here in Madison. I'm really excited to set up an interview. The owner of the company came to my Business Communications class today to just talk to all of us about how he got into the music industry and what he does, etc. I was really interested because his company specializes in classical music, which is basically my life (besides metal, of course)! After he was done talking, I went up to him and asked him if there were any internship possibilities at his studio, and he said yes i explained to him that i'm a classical pianist/violinist, and that definitely got him interested. pretty much everyone at school is trying to get into the "rock band" scene, and this guy definitely pointed out that they are looking for someone with some sort of classical or jazz knowledge, not just someone interested in rock. i think he also appreciated the fact that i'm a woman trying to get my foot in the door and i'm more persistent than most of the guys at school. he said "so how's it feel to be the token woman of the school?" he asked me to send him my cover letter and resume, and he would talk to the other people in the company about an internship.
i am so excited! even if i don't get it (which is very possible, there are TONS of people wanting this) i'm hoping to at least get to play the piano they have there. its a 7-foot Yamaha C6. it's gorgeous....!
oh, and on a girlie note.... i dressed up all purdy today for no reason (gasp!). i had no idea we were having a guest speaker. thank god i didn't wear my torn up jeans and some random band t-shirt like i usually do. what a shitty first impression that would have been...!
