In popular understanding, it corresponds to the woman's age when she reaches 40 years of age, when, supposedly, she would reach maturity and become the owner of her nose. However, there was some confusion with this concept. "Age of the wolf" means, in practice, a new model of being a woman, a new lifestyle, a new concept of the world, resulting from feminist movements and sexual liberation, from the 1960s. Until then, only the man played the role of wolf, of "hunter", leaving the woman in a passive situation, waiting for the masculine onslaught. The man was the big bad wolf and the woman was the little red riding hood.
The expression reflects the behavior of a new generation of women, due to the change in customs, the entry of women into the labor market, the achievement of rights equal to men and the search for autonomy and independence. The confusion, probably, must have happened due to several testimonies of women who lived this change in customs, and reported these new experiences that were published in magazines, after the 80s, when they were in their 40s. Actually, the wolf's age is about female emancipation and less passive behavior. and in general, in this age group, there is a desire not to waste time and make dreams and wishes come true, without so much concern with the judgment of others. The woman at 40 has a greater urgency of life, which will be reflected in sexuality. Because she wants to experience life with more intensity.
