Developing patience is not easy, but neither is it impossible. The truth is that custom also intervenes in this: we are used to reacting quickly and not introducing necessary waiting periods and breaks. That is why it is very important to learn new habits that lead us to be more patient. These are five of them:
1. Never judge What does the custom of judging others have to do with the purpose of developing patience? In fact, it has a lot to do. Sometimes we spend a lot of energy questioning others. Thinking about the bad things people do or what they could have done. This exercise, by itself, introduces a strong internal tension between us and the world.
By itself, the act of judging others is to adopt a hostile stance towards reality. This hostility often translates into intolerance and this, in turn, leads to impatience. Otherwise, if we learn to accept others as they are, it will be easier to maintain internal balance. The consequence of this is that we will have a greater capacity to develop patience.
2. Distance yourself from conflict If we analyze them in depth, we will realize that a good part of the conflicts are useless. They are born from the malaise that each one feels, but, in general, they lead to nothing. They are an expression of non-conformity, which often only makes people feel even more resigned.
The conflict is not bad in itself. On the contrary, conflict often causes enrichment, as it helps us to see things from another point of view, or allows us to perceive the mistakes we are making. The art is in properly managing this conflict. In not allowing it to perpetuate itself and cause constant tension.
3. Recognize the contributions of others To develop patience, it is essential to learn to value the contributions of others. There are many people who do a lot for us every day. None of them are perfect, just as we are not. However, they enrich our lives and make them much better.
