Fresh Pumpkin Ala Kazaam
Peel and cube small fresh pumpkin (I am using a Sugar Baby because it came on to me)
Heat olive oil and garlic in a pan
Saute pumpkin
Toss in nice amount of kosher or sea salt
Then some of the hairy part of fennel root, and a little of the stalks too
Let cook covered for a few minutes
Taste it now--too hard? You may choose to finish it with rice wine and water
I watched a friend make it, so I am incorporating this great North American squash into the dinner along with
Turkey
Stuffing
Mash spuds
Gravy
Green beans & bacon
Sweet potatoes with marshmallows (I wont eat that, but it appears to be a necessity for certain family members)
Pumpkin ala kazaam
Beet greens sauted
Kale with onions and red pepper
Dessert:
Apple cake with caramel
Berries cobbler ala mode (the Northern California mode requires Soy Dream as an option)
lunch will include pumpkin custard (pie, no shell, served with fresh whipped cream and sugar glass--a transparent confection made of sugar plus water plus heat)
i love pumpkin more than the rest of my clan
so they can eat it!!
I will be with family, best friend's family, and then a bunch of neighbors for evening charades etc
Where will you be
And what might you be giving thanks for?
Me--I got beautiful healthy kids, and that is a lot to be thankful for!

I'm not sure what's on the menu for Thanksgiving as my plans have just changed in the last 24 hours. Not sure it's worth cooking a whole monster meal for just me but I'll be having dessert with my best friend and her partner later in the evening. Hot buttered rums will likely ensue.
I'm thankful for my awesome job and, of course, my marvelous friends. Without my friends I'd be nothing. Truly. And pretty please feel free to include your fabulous self on that list.
Bon Apetit and have a great, relaxing day.
that sounds like a great td! hooray for family and friends. how many kids do you have?
I spent it with my sweetie just being thankful. we skipped the food in favor of scrabble and tree assembly. we are wild! thankfulness abounds.
