I suppose I should update -- I'm really bad about that.
Well, it's December. Apparently, nobody told the weather gods, as it's been almost 80 degrees outside all week. And people still debate global warming?
In other words, I started rehearsals on Monday for another opera: my fifth year in a row directing our company's "holiday show." Ugh. I mean, it's charming and all, and great for families, but come on -- it's the same show five years in a row. Oh, well. It'll be fine, I guess. The only thing that really bugs me about it is that they've pushed the performance dates back a week later than we've done in the past -- which means I won't get to go home until the 23rd (I've always tried to be there for my mom's birthday on the 21st).
Anyway, enough complaining. I saw a couple of movies over the weekend: the Coen's No Country for Old Men (really good, in a stark, depressing sort of way), and The Golden Compass (which was beautifully designed and perfectly cast, but poorly directed). One more holiday movie release that I'm looking forward to...can you guess which one that might be?
