Hiya,
I consider myself an adventure-seeker working in the medium of Los Angeles. Not fully a nerd or a dweeb, I engender a juxtaposition of both. I believe I can be catagorized as a neeb or a dwerd.
For a meager living I work as a writer for a fashion/arts/music magazine (while I'm finishing grad school), where I reluctantly interview sorta famous people (yes, that's was McSteamy from Grey's Anatomy but I'd rather be talking with Buzz from the Melvins) and eagerly write about obscure things I would like to share with the world (like Tijuana death metal, Italian futurist eco-communes, Los Angeles Noise Core, Third World taxi folk art). I like to consider myself a male Margret Mead, delving into subcultures from the rich and tasteless, to the broke and beautiful. I'm about to start doing something at NPR in two weeks too... but they haven't really told me what yet.
I've lived in Copenhagen, London (I was working for a tabloid, I know.. I'm kinda shady), Santiago, Chile (sorta, I was basically reading Walt Whitman all day and trying mount an ill-prepared expedition into the Andes) and ahem... Phoenix, but Los Angeles is truly the city I love.
Most of my time is split between the East Side at the echo/spaceland et al, and the art galleries around my home in Culver City. But I'm truly happy drinking tea and watching Planet Earth and playing scrabble (allowing a few made up words, only if they have a totally radical imaginary meaning)
I'm looking for like-minded people to go to rockshows, experience art openings, drink too much at fashion shows, make fun of people at movie premieres, hang out in communes and eat at the counter of 50's diners.
Preferably all in the same night.
