What is one assumption others make about you that you wish you could dispel?
The most frequent assumption I've heard about myself from others is that I look like a shallow, materialistic person who basically gets everything handed to them. Yeah I've heard I look like and are first judged as the dark side of the "Regina George" type. Which in my eyes is absolute madness as I am the complete opposite!
An example of this happening was when I went for a small operation on my toe, with my mum sat next to me in the room. The nurse said to me "I bet mum chauffeurs you to wherever you want, right?" Whilst she was looking at my long cotton coat, face of makeup and my hair was down and was still curly from the day before. (Makeup being foundation, eyeliner and lipstick, no joke)
So because I have tried to make myself presentable leaving the house, this makes me a "little princess" type of girl? Nut uh. You couldn't be more wrong. What if I went in to the hospital with no makeup, pjs and messy hair, would I then be a 'slob?' It was an operation on my TOE 😂 Can't win with some people, man!
I think that wanting to present yourself, when you have the time and energy to, is never ever a bad thing! And pulling other people down about having the time/energy is never cool. I wear the same amount of makeup at work, to which people have said to me "I couldn't spend that much time on myself in the morning" "how do you have the time" Because I make time, I make the 10 minutes available to myself. It isn't a crime to put on foundation over that spot that's got its own orbit, okay!
And it isn't a crime if you also don't have the time too. It's okay if you don't have the energy! It isn't a crime if you prefer not to wear makeup, for whatever reason it may be! Some women don't have the resources even if they wanted to present themselves in a certain way. Let people have their skin roam free and breathe if they want to! This doesn't mean they aren't presentable or take pride in themselves. We all have the same hours in the day, however we all have to use them accordingly to our own lives, which can be a whole other topic! Pulling people down about their appearance is never okay.
Thank you for this topic, I'm glad I had chance to share and bash this assumption on the head! ❤️💪🏻
