Birthdays make me very introspective. Almost as much as New Year's Day.



Maybe that's why we have parties and receive presents. It's our friends' and loved ones' attempt at distracting us from the potential for unnecessary pensiveness.







This year, my birthday has proven to be more of an inconvenience than a celebration, or need for distraction. But, at least there will be gifts involved . Despite my somewhat cynical, melancholy musings, I still enjoy being a little extra special today
