I'm having a hard time believing it's true, but Robin Williams is dead. This man was a huge part of my childhood, from the Genie in Aladdin, to the bat in Fern Gully, to Good Morning Vietnam, to Mrs. Doubtfire...it really seemed like everything he touched turned to comedy gold. I guess what we didn't see was the darkness in his head that that comedy came from. It may seem trite to say, but I really do believe that all comedians are coming from a dark place and turning it into humor to try to take the sting out of it.
I'm going to miss him so much. He did so much for so many, including veterans. He'd go overseas with the USO as often as he could, and tried to make our soldiers' lives a bit easier while he could. I never did get a chance to meet him in person, although I would have loved to, just so I could tell him how much it means to me what he did.
Bangarang, Peter. May you find your Neverland.
