There really isn't a ton I can say as tour guide to my small town, because there's not a ton to do. I mean, you can always go to the manmade falls in the middle of town and watch the duck races in spring, which is cool, but it's a very laidback, country-style town. I'd probably take you up to Blacktail reservoir to go crawfishing in the middle of the night or out to Make-Out Point to show you the "city" laid out glittering so prettily in the night sky, but there really isn't a whole lot you can do like in the bigger cities I've lived in. Every August the rodeo comes to town and all the 4H kids show off their critters they've spent the year raising to sell. We do have baseball games between our town team (the Chukars) and whomever else will play us in our small baseball field, those can be fun.
Most of what I know and did growing up here wasn't really in town, per say. We'd range all the way to the state line at times just to find something to do. And of course you can always go hiking in the local canyons or camping. If you own a boat, you can go boating on the river, which runs right through the middle of town. The Vietnam memorial is right there, along with the vintage tank, you can view the US's 2nd largest Mormon temple there as well, and we do have a few museums that have a floor dedicated to how the town looked back when it was first established, right down to the hitching posts.
We'd go camping sometimes in the middle of winter up to Island Park, where one of my exes' family had a cabin, and it would be just us teenagers as a group up there to all hang out. And of course get in trouble and occasionally fall into the frozen river and need thawing out. But that's what we knew, you know? If we managed to drive the 4 hours to Salt Lake City down in Utah or the 4 hours west to Boise, we thought we were hot shit, because we were in the Big City now. LOL. We've got a tiny regional airport, that still gets direct flights to and from Vegas, California, Denver, Salt Lake and Boise, but is delayed like crazy because the desk staff are also the security staff are also the luggage folks.
I will say that if you're ever in the area around the 4th of July, make sure to stay and see the fireworks, because our show is the largest this side of the Mississippi and the best. ;) Totally worth it.
So that's my hometown in a nutshell, not a lot to see, but the country around is absolutely breathtaking and as long as you range around, you'll find a lot of outdoorsy stuff to do. :)
