The visit to San Francisco was predictably excellent. Driving a Go Car around the city was a highlight, but, clearly, getting to the top of Lombard Street would have been the proverbial icing on the cake.
My parents have now purchased a house in central Florida. Yes, I still have friends in Maine, but it won't be quite the same going back to the Pine Tree State now. At least one of my immediate family members has lived in Maine for the better part of the last 20 years and it feels like "home" more than New Jersey probably ever did.
And, yes, I stole this from Chicken's journal. Too damned funny.

Anyhoo, even though I didn't pull out Afterbirth's chair, he was there to witness the incident since we used to work together. I don't think I've ever seen him laugh so hard, except for that time we pulled another prank on a different coworker. This coworker, who is in fact an ex-boyfriend of mine (what an incestuous workplace, eh?) had ordered a very expensive microphone from eBay to be shipped to our work. We intercepted the package and rigged up a dummy package with bits and pieces of stuff so when he moved the box, it would sound like his microphone was in a million pieces. And as the pice de rsistance, we put a note at the bottom of the box that said "sucker!" Afterbirth set up a camera to film the whole thing, unbeknownst to our coworker. The whole office knew what we were doing, so on the video, you can see random people circling, waiting to witness the kill. When the guy finally touched the box and heard jangling sounds, you can see great distress in his demeanor, and then he opens the box and is so blind with anger that he can't even tell that all the items in the box are from the office, which should tip him off that someting's amiss. But no, he saw the "sucker!" note and actually thought it was from the eBay seller! I think Afterbirth finally bursts out laughing, and it becomes apparent that it's all a prank. I do wish Afterbirth would put the video online because it's too funny.
