So, I went to a writers group meeting on Saturday about my TV pilot. It was a new group (through my friend Mike) and though I knew some of the guys socially, I didn't know where they were coming from as much creatively. They kind of spun my head a little bit until I could ascertain what the deal-e-o was. They kind of jumped right in to find bigger structural ways to improve it. I was eventually able to get a set of notes that will make it better, but only after Mike talked me down a bit and told me to totally ignore some of their big notes because they were crap and would ruin a lot of the good things about it.
My gal liked it a bunch too.
Now I just have to roll my sleeves up and start rewrting.

Cool. It can be pretty difficult to listen to people critique your work, but it is essential.

So it was just like getting network notes then?
