The Origin of Love
Today, or should I say yesterday, was a very nice day. Let us see where we begin..I awoke just before ten-thirty in the morning to prepare for my daily routine of getting ready for work. I am thoroughly beginning to enjoy working at eleven in the morning instead of six or seven in the morning. I have time to pretty much sleep in and get at least a good eight hours of sleep before working away. This way in the evening I have time to do productive activities. Anyway, I probably should start waking up an hour before work as I never seem to have enough time to properly do everything I need to accomplish before I arrive at my workplace. I was able to take a quick shower, dry off, and then put on my work clothes. I have been putting them out the night before, which makes it a lot easier instead of having to search around for the clothing when you're already running out of time. After getting dressed, I stuffed my pockets full of the usual wallet, keys, money, chap stick, cellular telephanale and box cutter, then grabbed an energy drink I had purchased the night before and drank it while on my way to work. This drink is called Full Throtle, and is made by the Coca Cola company. Taste-wise, it is quite delicious for an energy drink, but I don't believe it delivers quite the boost that my beloved Rockstar does. I believe the true reason I purchased it - make that two of them - was because it was on sale for the oh so low price of three for five dollars. So that would make each one one dollar and sixty-six and a third cents I believe.Making it to work, I believe I was a whole three minutes late, which isn't too bad at all. When I worked in the dairy department, I would seem to be anywhere from five to fifteen minutes late. I think this is because I feel a little more motivation working in a new place that I do enjoy. Along with that, Mike, my boss, actually got me a raise. I am now making nine dollars and twenty-five cents an hour. On top of that, he said I will get another one in three months, which will put me up to nine dollars and seventy-five cents an hour. This has definatley boosted my self-esteem and actually made me a little happier coming to work. This will give me a slightly larger amount on my paychecks, and hopefully I can save up for some things, and get people gifts for the holiday. I already purchased something for someone for Thanksgiving, but I cannot go into the details of it, because then it would not be a surprise.Moving on, Mike took me back to the freezer to show me what had gone down over the weekend; well Sunday to be more percise. I guess Mark and Daniel did not do much of anything and it looked quite horrible. Things were strung about and the shelves in the aisles that could have been filled were looking rather bare. So this would be the day, as usual, that I would pick up the pieces. For the first few hours, Mike helped me run all the ice cream, including the novelties and the five quart pails, and I would polish off the rest. For my first fifteen minute break I had a Lunchable sub sandwich. For those that don't care for these things, the subs I believe are of a lot better quality than the other selections. This is probably why they cost the same as the ones with a beverage, as this one does not come with one. The main reason I chose it was because it was on sale. For my beverage I would drink another Full Throtle energy drink, and then I was off to the races once again. I got the regular backstock down to almost nothing, and then it was onto what we call the "longs" section. These are the items that we usually got a good deal on, and therefore were able to order a large quantity of. This consists of things that sell very well during the holday season, including Cool Whip, waffles, frozen vegetables, potatoes, frozen fruit, pizza, etc. I did not have adequate time to organize things as I would have liked, but I have the next day to do things like that. I ended up staying almost thirty minutes late anyway, and I still couldn't finish everything I was asked of. I was supposed to clean the chrome (metal) parts of our displays on the end of the aisles (end-caps), but I'll save that for the next day. I did get everything filled that need be though. After work, I had another frozen dinner (which by the way I had a Banquet fried chicken dinner for my hour break in-between work), which ended up being macaroni and romano cheese I believe, made by Michelina's if memory serves me right. I had received a text message from Erika Fisher during work, but I wasn't able to respond to it until I had gotten off. She was wondering if i wanted to hang out with her along with Andy Miller and Brianna "Boons" Rank. Once off work, I had asked if there was still a chance that I could come over. Thankfully she said yes, and I am very glad that I did decide to come visit. I got a chance to see Andy's new (well five months old) apartment, and also got to watch a very good movie. I'm very glad I got to watch this movie, because it made me look at things differently. It was The Notebook, which is an amazing movie. The story is simple, as it is about two people that fall in love, and stay together through thick and thin. Like I said, it may be simple, but its simplicity actually made it extremley powerful. To see these two people go through so much, and they're still able to find each other once the day is done, is extraordinary. Don't freak out on me or anything, but when I saw those two characters, I thought of Jaimie and I. I could see us in the beginning being with each other, and then she went away and we were pulled apart. I know we weren't really all that much together when she went away, but still...They argued and we argued, they broke it off and we broke it off (well okay we did moreso than they but that's beside the point). The only thing is, in the end they found each other and even when they both grew old and she developed dementia, he would sit next to her and tell her the story of their life, hoping that she would remember all of the great times that they spent together. And when I saw that I did get emotional and I shed some tears. Infact, I'm shedding some right now just thinking about it. I wept not only because the movie was so emotional, but because I saw us through them. That is how I want us to be. Together no matter what we have to go through. And as we fade off into the heavens, we will hold hands, becoming one soul...one being...one life...one eternity. This is what I see. And when I think about it I smile. Because I know it will happen. I just feel that fate will send us this way. She may not feel the same, but I hope someday, just like she figured out in the movie, she will come back to the one she had once loved. A lady at work said a prayer for me when I told her that things weren't looking so well in my life at the moment. I believe that that prayer truly worked, as I can see the fog clearing from that path ahead. I can see the sun emerging from the clouds and shining down upon me. Its rays of light glimmer and make me smile, and assure me that all will be well. Through enduring patience, one will be rewarded elegantly. And the two halves will become a whole.
When the earth was still flat,
And the clouds made of fire,
And mountains stretched up to the sky,
Sometimes higher,
Folks roamed the earth
Like big rolling kegs.
They had two sets of arms.
They had two sets of legs.
They had two faces peering
Out of one giant head
So they could watch all around them
As they talked; while they read.
And they never knew nothing of love.
It was before the origin of love. The origin of love
And there were three sexes then,
One that looked like two men
Glued up back to back,
Called the children of the sun.
And similar in shape and girth
Were the children of the earth.
They looked like two girls
Rolled up in one.
And the children of the moon
Were like a fork shoved on a spoon.
They were part sun, part earth
Part daughter, part son.
The origin of love
Now the gods grew quite scared
Of our strength and defiance
And Thor said,"I'm gonna kill them all
With my hammer,
Like I killed the giants."
And Zeus said, "No,You better let me
Use my lightening, like scissors,
Like I cut the legs off the whales
And dinosaurs into lizards.
"Then he grabbed up some bolts
And he let out a laugh,
Said, "I'll split them right down the middle.
Gonna cut them right up in half."
And then storm clouds gathered above
Into great balls of fire
And then fire shot down
From the sky in bolts
Like shining blades
Of a knife.And it ripped
Right through the flesh
Of the children of the sun
And the moon
And the earth.
And some Indian god
Sewed the wound up into a hole,
Pulled it round to our belly
To remind us of the price we pay.
And Osiris and the gods of the Nile
Gathered up a big storm
To blow a hurricane,
To scatter us away,
In a flood of wind and rain,
And a sea of tidal waves,
To wash us all away,
And if we don't behave
They'll cut us down again
And we'll be hopping round on one foot
And looking through one eye.
Last time I saw you
We had just split in two.
You were looking at me.
I was looking at you.
You had a way so familiar,
But I could not recognize,
Cause you had blood on your face;
I had blood in my eyes.
But I could swear by your expression
That the pain down in your soul
Was the same as the one down in mine.
That's the pain,Cuts a straight line
Down through the heart; We called it love.
So we wrapped our arms around each other,
Trying to shove ourselves back together.
We were making love,Making love.
It was a cold dark evening,
Such a long time ago,
When by the mighty hand of Jove,
It was the sad story
How we became
Lonely two-legged creatures,
It's the story of
The origin of love.
That's the origin of love.
