Stand Navy out to sea
Fight our battle cry
We'll never change our course
So vicious foe steer shy
Roll out the TNT
Anchors aweigh
Sail on to victory
And sink their bones to Davey Jones, hooray!
Anchors aweigh my boys
Anchors aweigh
Farewell to foreign shores
We sail at the break of day
Through our last night ashore
Drink to the foam
Until we meet again
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home
Blue of the mighty deep
Gold of God's great sun
Let these our colors be
'Till all of time be done
By seven seas we learn
Navy's stern call
Faith, courage, service true,
With honor over honor, over all.
Tonight I say goodbye to my beloved dixie cup.
My dear Dixie Cup,
I replaced you with every inspection, but I have always been loyal --and you to me. You shielded my brow during very long Change of Command ceremonies and were with me each time I laid a dear friend to rest. I honestly thought we would have another year together, but like all good things, this too must end.
I will never forget the times we have shared. I will never betray what you represent. Although it is painful to bury you as you've buried so many others with me, this is a joyous moment. I will never think of you as dead or gone, but instead I will remember you with pride. I regret nothing. You have been with me through the best and worst times of my life and I owe you everything. I will forever be in your debt.
Parting is such sweet sorrow, but I can honestly say, I hope to never wear you again, as that would mean I totally screwed something up and let's face it, no one wants that, especially not you, my little friend.
You've stuck by my side through the highest highs and the lowest lows. You've been stolen by one-night-stands and psycho ex girlfriends. You've been blown from my head and into the ocean alongside a pier, leaving me coverless and looking stupid. You've been left in a bar in Puerto Rico, Guam, New York, and Norfolk. You've been worn by others who were not worthy and you didn't even mind. You've been traded for cab fare to a total stranger on the street. You've been stenciled and one-lined and stenciled again. You've been stolen from my cage by turds who could not maintain their uniforms. You've even stood 2 Captain's Masts with teammates who did not have one of you for themselves in those moments, when you yourself were guilty of no such charges. You've been irresistible to foreign women alongside your faithful Cracker Jacks whom I also hold so dear...
Goodbye precious friend. In the unlikely event that we should meet again and I require your services, just know that I would gladly accept you on my head and in my heart. And, if you could please stop turning yellow every 3 months, I think it is something that everyone will appreciate.
Fare thee well, Dixie Cup. May you continue to serve so gallantly as you have done for so long.
Farewell.
I will never forget. I will never forget. I will never forget.
