Yesterday, I answered a "why did you do that" style question with "Because I have severe emotional problems."
How's that for honesty?
(I did it in the context of saying "I was a big jerk and overreacted and I'm very sorry." It's not like "my severe emotional problems" is some phantom dude who does all this bad stuff and blames it on me. Sort of like a Seinfeldian version of NOT ME from those Family Circus cartoons.)

I find people blaming things on their emotional problems rather than taking responsibility for their actions extremely annoying, but I'm sure that has more to do with my experiences than it does you. Hope it worked for you.
