I am officially on vacation.
Whee!!!
I am also officially pissed off with copy protection. Now, I'm the copy protection/artist rights/intellectual property nazi.
But all I wanna do is copy a bunch of my legitimately purchased CDs over to my legitimately purchased iPod so I can have a bigass random playlist of my entire legitimately purchased CD collection on the seven-ish hour drive I've got ahead of me tomorrow.
And yet disc after disc spits out of the system as unreadable. That's weak fucking sauce. I'm one of the goddamned good guys, and the industry is punishing me as they take ineffective shots at the bad guys.
I can get around it easily enough. (And guess what - if I can, so can the bad guys.) As I've mentioned before - take an analog out of your CD player, connect it to the analog in on your sound card, press play on the CD player and record on your computer, and encode the resulting files. Easy peasy. I can get around it, but I shouldn't have to.
And the other thing that copy protection people don't seem to understand is that if just one person gets by your clever little scheme, then everybody effectively has, because once those files hit the intertron, every idiot with kazaa can get 'em.
So either come up with a better system or give it up, because you're pissing off the good guys, and we deserve better.
But fuck it. I'm on vacation.
