She woke up today.
We held hands. We kissed. We talked. (Well, she can't really talk yet, but between some pointing, nodding to some yes or no questions, and some very slow lip reading, we got some messages across.) Did I mention we kissed?
We're still not 100% out of the woods yet, but she was breathing on her own when I left today, and the marching band is on standby.
I hope none of you ever have to go through something like this, where it is very suddenly and dramatically made extremely clear just how important somebody is to you. But at the very least, today I understood in a way that I didn't just over a week ago exactly how precious every single one of those kisses was, how important every smile was, and just how much I love her.
Update: Yesterday, she said she loved me. Again, thrilled doesn't even begin to cover it.
