So tomorrow (or possibly even later today if I feel ambitious), I'm going to head up to see my parents. I won't lie - I hate travelling. I'm not a traveller. I don't travel well. It's not the being elsewhere that I mind so much (although I'm definitely the type who likes to make his home the place he wants to be, full of all manner of toys and diversions, so why go elsewhere?) - it's the getting elsewhere that typically winds up being a trial.
There's no convenient way to fly home, and gravity and I have an uneasy peace when it comes to airplanes anyways. It's prohibitively expensive to rent a car, and that would entail some really nasty stretches of snow-covered highway, and I haven't done a cross-province drive in years. This leaves me with one miserable alternative. Yet again, despite my constant vows that every trip on their accursed fleet will be my last, I'm going to have to take the bus.
Being wedged into those awful Greyhound seats is a menace when you're 6'3". Argh. Every mile is an ordeal.
However, my reward will be a week (or so - I have another dentist appointment next Monday for which I have to be back in town) with my parents and my dogs, and that's always worth the trip. The vast majority of my friends from back home have moved off to greener pastures, so there won't be nearly as many of them to see this time around, but there are still enough of them that my dance card will remain relatively full.
So I want you all to be good while I'm gone. I'll have my iPod and my Game Boy, so I should be fine. Fret not for the Flea. Well, unless you're a guitarist. *rim shot* I'll still have internet access, so I'm sure I won't vanish completely all week.
I do have a confession to make, though: I've given it a lot of thought, and really tried to give it a chance, you know? But I just don't like the new main page. It's just too busy for my tastes. I'm not criticizing - I know a lot of people like it. I recognize that a lot of people probably put a lot of hard work into its design and implementation. I'm not trying to cause an argument here. But if the collected works of John Cusack have taught me anything, it's that you have to say what's in your heart. And no sir, I don't like it.
But then again, while I liked that new wallpaper that showed up the other day, I did prefer the classic one that has since returned. Maybe I just fear change.

John Cusack characters are always right about that saying what's in your heart thing. That's why I love him.
The weird journal thing happened b/c NO77 accidently updated my journal when he meant to update his. I was very sad b/c most of my favorite people (like YOU) posted on the first version of that journal... I think I'll survive though.
Have a fun weekend!
