Great googly-moogly... can it really ALMOST all be done?
I think I've got just about the entire collection converted over, give or take one or two dozen CDs that will require special attention (ie indie bands - most often friends of mine - who don't have their vitals in CDDB, or albums with 27 minutes of empty space at the end of them... seriously - who thinks that's a good idea at ALL?).
But seriously - what a delightful invention. All this music with me at all times. Theoretically, I'll never again have a song trapped in my head without being able to hear it within a few button presses.
My complaints are few. Firstly, it's a hard drive, and it is guaranteed to fail at some point. Years down the road, granted. But still - 100% chance of this being a doorstop one day. Secondly, eight hours of battery life? It'd be nice if it was a bit longer, but that's more wishing out loud than serious complaint. And also, the rechargeable battery in it is not changeable (or so the write-ups say, and I will hope that this means 'user-changeable' and not 'ever-changeable), and it's destined to give up the ghost after a while as well.
I don't think things should last forever, but this thing sure cost a HELL of a lot of money to have a couple of death-clocks built in.
But again - nitpicking. As of right now, I have 5068 songs compressed into 19.22GB of portable hard drive space (so a good 20GB left over if I need to drag files around), for 14.6 days' worth of listening material.
I don't think you even have to be that much of a music geek or technophile to think that's pretty spiffy.
Hope everybody had a good weekend!

thanks. I too have had a few years of dealing with parental health, but this one, while totally a necessary and good procedure is, by it's nature, a major major one. again, thanks, that's really cool of you.

I'm so jealous! I had to be cheap and buy a 128mb mp3 player - but at least it's encouraging me to exercise! (I have to bribe myself to exercise - how sad,) So what are your favorite songs/artists to listen to lately?
