Wow, thank you to everybody who swung by my last journal to wish me a happy birthday and tell me how old I am.
It was a great evening with a bunch of friends taking over the upstairs lounge at the Keg (where I enjoyed once again the sublime teriyaki sirloin, but the girl found out that the last vegetarian entree had been scoured from the menu, so alas this will probably represent the last year of my birthday-at-the-Keg tradition).
Then it was off for drinks, although things ended early enough (with us sober enough) for my housemate and I to get in a good hour of rocking the fuck out. Best game ever? Signs point to yes. After very long delays getting that shipped to Canada, I have two copies. It's funny to me that I have several real guitars just a few feet from the TV, but they're collecting dust while I try to improve my high score on "Bark at the Moon".
The multiplayer tournaments that are consuming my office are also officially awesome.
(Speaking of guitar awesomeness, how cool are these??? I think I may need that Iceman.)
My early birthday present was of course the bike from the girl. It's now officially on in-garage hiatus until the weather gets all spring-like again, but I intend to put heavy mileage on it in the new year.
Guitar Hero and this were my presents to myself. (I'm a geek, but I'm a happy geek.) The ex snagged this for me, as my descent into shameless fanboyism continues unabated. I was hoping that reading the book might help me make some sense of the albums' nebulous storylines. It doesn't. (Coheed and Cambria is seriously all I listen to at the moment. I haven't been this obsessed with a band since high school.)
There were packages from home, cards, phone calls, and emails, and a journal smack full of comments, so it was a pretty cool day. Thanks again to everybody!!!
Tonight is our company christmas party, so I've got to go and make myself pretty. I hope everybody is having a spectacular weekend, and isn't getting snowed on too badly.
