I found out today that my girlfriend/open relationship partner is going away to work 300 miles away until November,
one the one hand I am really pleased for her, she deserves this great opportunity, on the other hand I'm going to miss her like crazy.

I know what you mean about privacy. It is flat amazing how well Google can ferret out words in the most obscure blog entry, etc. I made the mistake of mentioning an acquaintance by name here years ago, only to find out that his employer googles employee's names frequently to be sure they aren't engaging in activities that could bring negative attention to the company

honestly, it's true. at the moment I am happier than I have ever been before, it's quite refreshing.
