"When I waken
And I'm aching
Time for sleeping....yeah"
"Shame In You" - Alice In Chains
Tired!!!! It's not a bad thing though as has been a really productive week, with 2 Teresa Banks gigs and 1 Y.A.K. gig.
First Banks one was at Sleazys with Second Skin and Sooth and was excellent. Sooth were launching their new EP so the place was mobbed and we got to fill their ears with our musical cement and they all seemed quite pleased with that. Was particularly great to see Second Skin still doing what they do and still epic as fuck. It was at this gig that we were approached by a couple of the guys from The Black Lodge to play with them at Bloc. Was a strange gig what with it being more of a traditional pub gig, but again everything went more or less smoothly and the audience were very pleasant to us and we gave away 50 free cds. As for the Lodge, they're quite an experience. Like incredibly hardcore intense mathcore(is that a word?!?) which strips the skin off your face and then reattaches it. It's a lot more pleasant than that makes it sound though and if you're curious to hear it in action click HERE.They played 4 songs twice in the space of 10 minutes and Olly scared a few punters shitless by leaping onto their table. It's all great fun, and for such an intense and frankly terrifying band they're splendid chaps to share a pint with so hopefully we'll be playing with them again sometime.
As for the Y.A.K. gig it was at the Wee Chillfest, which is a dance festival(strange I know) held in various areas of the Science Centre(stranger I know) where our record label had a tent to showcase their bands. Luckily the rain stayed off for our set and we played to a pretty packed area thanks to the rest of the stages being indoors and people needing to smoke. Ace. There was even a barbecue nearby so we could rock out with the smell of burning meat in our nostrils, there's nothing quite like it. The gig itself was fun, and it didn't stay cold for long in the tent. It did start pissing with rain just as we were leaving so god knows how the other bands fared. Was great wandering round the place before the gig LEARNING THINGS ABOUT SCIENCE. IMAX rocks.
Bumped into Mick from Spacejunk at the Bloc gig and being the stellar chap he is he's swung it for us to play in Sound Control at noon on Saturday 30th June. It'll be a weird one, but weird gigs are always fun gigs. And if you're looking for something new to listen to you'd be doing yourself a favour by discovering Spacejunk
, it's finger lickin' good.
