"Psycho Killer" - Talking Heads
My insides have died and gone to hell. We played on the Renfrew Ferry last night, it was put on by the fantastic people at Mr Tramp records so huge thanks to them for inviting us along. It had a covers theme so the DJs played cover versions all night and the bands followed suit by playing a few covers in their sets. It made for a very relaxed, very fun and very drunken evening, made all the more fun for being on a boat. We covered "Bleed American" by Jimmy Eat World, "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads, "Screamager" by Therapy? and "Unison" by Bjork, and hopefully put our own spin on them. There was no way we could have competed with After Christmas who played an inspired keyboard assisted cover of "Freak On A Leash" by Korn. Seriously you had to hear this thing to believe it, fantasmagorical. Was great to play with them, as I used to go to college with a couple of the guys and they really are wonderful people and it was an enormous pleasure to catch up, hopefully it won't be too long until the next time. Also bumped into Duncan from Danananakroyd who actually helped me learn to play bass by teaching me to play "Screamager" in high school. That's fate for you. Again it was great to catch up and nice to be reminded that high school wasn't the hive of scum and villainy that I always remember it being, there were great people and great times too.
So after such a fantastic night I don't mind too much that I feel awful today, it seems like a pretty fair trade-off. Me and Bea are handling the hangover in the usual way, with as little movement as possible and the combination of pizza and crisps and dip in front of the tv. Bea is having a Grey's Anatomy marathon and I must say I'm finding it quite enjoyable. Sundays rock.
