"With my feet upon the ground
I lose myself between the sounds
And open wide to suck it in
I feel it move across my skin"
"Lateralus"- Tool
Been a donkey's yonker since I've written a blog, I'd like to say it's because I've been super busy but I've actually been twatting hordes of zombies with frying pans in Dead Rising on the 360, a noble pursuit I'm sure you'll agree.
Dragged myself away from the control pad on a few occasions though. Went to see "The Departed"(great movie but on weighing it up "Infernal Affairs" was better), the Tenacious D movie(good stoner fun to disengage your brain to) and "Casino Royale"(guns, girls and gexplosions, the 3 Gs which make you glad to be a man!!!!!!)!
Highlight of the year though has to be Tool at the SECC, strange as it's the worst venue in the country probably. It always sounds like an ass falling down the stairs inside a milk carton but for some reason the planets aligned perfectly and Tool managed to sound better than they ever have. It was my 3rd time seeing them and the best by a country mile. The sound was almost perfect, the performances were flawless, the set list was blinding and now that they're playing arenas here for the first time they've finally got the psychedelic laser assisted visual Floydish spectacle of a live show that their music has always been crying out for. Honestly, when they played both parts of "Wings For Marie" I entirely forgot I was even at a gig surrounded by thousands of people, everything faded out but the music and the visuals, probably the most transcendent 20 minutes of a concert I can recall. They've always been the best display of emotive and intelligent musicianship you can find in modern rock, and when they're at full stride like they were on Saturday they're simply beyond stunning. If you don't have Tool in your life you're going to hell.
Phew, now that I've spooged my fanboy musings all over my blog I'd best mop it up as Allan is coming over soon to record some acoustic stuff, then it's off to rehearsal with Teresa Banks. I'm sure I can squeeze in some zombie bashing first though

Were you responsible for influencing Blair's musical tastes? Does he like Roger Waters and co. too?
