As my time in Tallahassee draws to a close, I find that this godforsaken town has hollowed out a place in my heart. I'm thrilled to be getting out of the college scene and back into the real world again. I squeeked by with a C in my math class, which means I'll definitely be attending UCF in the fall.
I can't wait to get back to rockin' out behind the bar at Fusion, but it tears me up that I'm leaving my job up here. The Bradfordville Blues Club, the "juke joint under the stars" has been an amazing part of my experience in Tally. I've listened to incredible live music every weekend, and met dozens of blues legends. It's opened opportunities for me in the talent booking world and other experiences as well. I took that little place and shook it like a snow globe. I've spoiled all my regulars by making sure they've always got a full beer; when they walk in and throughout the night. In another week my little old men are going to have to find another short skirt to look up, and there will be no need to wipe my boot prints off the bar. My boss has requested that I come back for festivals and special events. Nobody pops beers with my speed and finesse.
It's cheesy, but being removed from my scene has forced to reexamine my life and my values. I will be coming back to Orlando refreshed and renewed. I've accomplished much of what I came here to do, but as always some things are left undone.
I'll miss my friends, my juke joint, and buying beer 24 hours. I'll be back to tear up the town soon enough.
