I am very concerned about the future of this country. America's situation is awful right now. We have so many problems going on domestically and internationally. The shit is hitting the fan and busting it up.
We are going to strike Iraq no matter what the U.N. says or does. President Bush is determined to lead thousands of US troops into a senseless battle. The type of combat we have chosen to use will be similar to the first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan. Entire platoons will be wiped out in a single swipe. The men and women serving this country are being forced into a battle which will bring about many deaths. And for what? I find it strange that the U.S. is the only country really pushing the strike on Iraq. Why is it the U.N. still wants to send inspectors in to check out the situation and the U.S. has warned that if the inspectors want to go into Iraq when we are striking them, we will bar them from going in. What is it that we are so afraid that we have to jump into war so quick? Oh wait, the elections are coming up. Hurry this up before Congress goes into recess even though they have said they will gladly return to make any decisions regarding the war.
And now perhaps the worst part for this country: the presidential power. I know, let's give President Bush more power than any president has had before him. And we will lose rights, it is definite. This country will be more like a dictatorship than a democracy. All this to have ultimate power and help hush the domestic issues which will destroy this country in time.
To put it simply, last week on salon.com a writer made an arguement that this country should change The National Anthem to Curtis Mayfield's "(Don't Worry) If There's A Hell Below We're All Going To Go". I couldn't agree more.
