That sounds like a really tough situation. Hopefully it has rectified itself by now. If not, I'd advise trying to give her a call or emailing her. Not to tell her what to do, but just to let her know you care and that you're there for her. You can't make someone take your advice, the best thing you can do is be there and offer suggestions, and let them know how much you care.
